Declaration of Emergency – Mayor’s Letter (March 2020)
The spread of the Corona virus and the measures that have been taken by the State, the County and our local school systems have affected all of us. I know that some of you are experiencing job changes, and business closures are making everyone rethink how we live. The Village is here if you need help figuring out which public agencies to contact, and our DPW has offered to be on call if you need transportation to doctor’s visits or to shop for food and other essentials. Their number is 518-692-7909.
We decided to declare a Local State of Emergency for the Village, which took effect on Monday, March 23. We took this action as a precaution in case we need to take emergency actions in the future, although at this point the measures taken at the State and County levels seem to cover the situation well.
Purchase of garbage stickers and water/sewer payments can be made on Tuesdays only. Please stay in the hallway and use envelopes with the mail slot. Our office is closed to the public until further notice, but you can slide payments through the mail slot in our door, and we will send you receipts. And you are welcome to call with questions, at 518-692-2755 x 100.
We have decided to move our meetings to a virtual platform. We will be holding a budget workshop on Monday, April 27. For this meeting, we are not bringing the public into the platform, but we will make a recording available to anyone who requests it, immediately following the meeting and we welcome your comments. Call the Village office if you would like to receive the recording.
We’re in this situation together, and we are counting on each other to follow the guidelines and do our best to stay healthy!
My best regards,
Mayor, Village of Greenwich
